Like Father, Like Son

Last night Josiah woke up hot. He was screaming and we could not figure out what was wrong. Chris said that he thought he was hot so we stripped him down. He calmed down like we had flipped a switch. So our little guy slept with a diaper only for awhile and then he let us swaddle him with a t-shirt/diaper only. Today we took hospital pictures and had to change his clothes. When we had stripped him, we let him lay there for about 30 mins in just a diaper sleeping. When I picked him up, his skin was warm. So now I have a husband and a son that are hot natured. So I guess my dreams of a warmer house just got farther away.

The doctor saw Josiah this morning and cleared us to leave tomorrow! Praise Jesus! We can only go as far as the hotel but that puts us one step closer to home!

Here are some pictures of daddy and Josiah from this morning.

Look how strong I am

I can hold my head up and I am only 6 days old. I have been doing this since I met Mommy and Daddy.

Just Hanging Out

Josiah has been great today! The doctor this morning said that we should be able to go home Monday as long as he continues to do well. He is gaining weight too. This boy is an eater. On Friday he weighed 7 lbs 15 oz. This morning he weighed 8 lbs 1.5 oz. He has been taking just over 2 ounces at each feeding. This afternoon he took 3 oz. Josiah is growing fast!

Here are some pictures from this afternoon.

Someone is very hungary! Josiah has a set of lungs!

All better now that he has had his dinner!

Bye bye till tomorrow!

Sleep!

I am not sure if it is Chris and I doing better or Josiah learning but we are definitely getting to know each other. Last night Josiah slept in 3 hr increments. Our nurse made sure that he was up every 3 hrs to eat on the dot. So we stayed up till 11:30 for his final feeding. Then Chris was up at 2:30 when the nurse came in. I quickly went back to sleep until 5:30 this morning. I felt like a new person. I fed at 5:30 so Chris could sleep and then Josiah slept until 8:30. I was very proud of our little man. He then spent about and hour and a half awake this morning just looking around. I told him that he was learning so good. sleep at night, awake during the day. Now lets see if it lasts. :)

Look at those cheeks! So kissable!

Josiah got his first gift since he has been born yesteday. It came from Poppy, Mimi, Uncle Noah, Uncle Jeremiah and Aunt Alexa. It is a stuffed elephant as big as he is.

Chris and I left Josiah sleeping under the watchful eye of the nurses and went to lunch today. It is so beautiful outside! On our way back we stopped by the gift shop to buy our little man something. It is bad. We walked in for 1 item and left with 3. First Chris found a plush puppy dog. It is cute so we decided to make that our gift. Then I saw a baseball piggy bank. His rom is Mickey sports so I could not pass that up. And then as Chris is checking out, I found a wall hanging. I posted it below. Warning it made me cry.

I am overwhelmed by this little blessing God has entrusted to us. I am humbled by how great God is that He would care so much for this little guy. God snatched him out of the clasps of the enemy! He has great plans for Josiah and no one can stand in the way. I am in awe. I can't get over how much God loves us and this little guy that he would bring us together. My heart is overwhelmed. I cannot describe how completely amaing it is to know that this adoption was God ordained from the beginning of time. I am crying because I can't imagine where Josiah would be if we hadn't told God yes we will follow your will. It has been a long journey but this little guy was completely worth it! I love you little man.

Just Because

I just wanted to share some pictures from today. There are really no updates to share. Enjoy our little guy!

Sleepless Nights

...have begun! We did really well last night until about 1 am. At 1 am Josiah decided that it was time to play and he only wanted to sleep if mama was holding him. I would get him to sleep and put him in his crib and he would wake up screaming until I picked him up. Then he was fine and would go back to sleep. Josiah this is a bad habit to get into. Finally a nurse took pity on me and let me sleep for an hr while she took him to the nurses station. Of course he then went right to sleep. Oh well. Daddy has decided that going back to the hotel last night and leaving us here was a bad idea, so tonight we will all be staying at the hospital. I love it!

The doctor came in this morning and said that Josiah was doing great! He looks a little jaundice this morning so she is going to run some tests. She says if he still continues to do well, we should be able to leave the hospital Monday. Hopefully we will clear ICPC before Easter weekend and we can go home!

Chris and I went to a baby class at the hospital that is required before you can take the baby home. It gives you lots of information about how to care for an infant, what to expect, etc. We were the only adoptive family there. One of the nurses asked me if I wanted a wheelchair to go back upstairs. It was one of those moments where if I let the smart alect come out in me, it would have been great! But I held my tongue and Chris and I got a good laugh at how good I look and feel for having just had a baby.

Now here are some pictures from this morning! Thanks for following our Journey.

Our Little Man

Josiah is officially ours! His birthparents gave their consent this morning for the adoption and we did our paperwork this afternoon. We did have a little paperwork problem, but my wonderful husband took care of the issue and got it fixed. We arrived at the hospital around 5 this evening to see our baby boy. Josiah will be in the hospital for a few more days so we will be staying here with him. We are very blessed to be able to stay in the room with him. The hospital has been great to us.

First impressions:

Josiah is very strong! He is holding his head up and fights like a champ. He is also very sweet and cuddly. When we first got here he was upset but all he needed was his mommy and daddy and some love. He doesn't like to be put down. He screamed at the nurse when she laid him in his crib. As soon as she picked him up, he stopped. Spoiled! :) He likes to be held and loved on. Well he will get lots of love in our family!!!

Now for pictures...

Waiting...Waiting...Waiting

Today was fairly eventless. We are still waiting for our birthmom and baby to be discharged from the hospital. She did get her discharge approval today for in the morning. As long as everything goes as planned, we should place (take custody) with the baby early afternoon tomorrow. However, we still don't know when the baby will be discharged from the hospital. The hospital is waiting on some test results to come back.

On another note, we have decided on a name for our little boy. His name is going to be Josiah. We are also giving him 2 middle names. We did not plan on it but the birth family asked us to keep the name they chose for him so we added it to his legal name. So his name will be long but it is a very strong name. We chose the name Josiah because he was a very young but great king in the Bible. It also has many strong meanings. Those meanings include Fire of the Lord, Whom God heals, and God has protected.

Now for some pictures. We went to the beach tonight to kill some time. I love the ocean and the ocean air.

Hopefully tomorrow afternoon we will have more pictures of Josiah to show you! Thanks for all the prayers and support!
